Richard Lee Jacobs

Richard L. Jacobs, 84, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at his home. Dick was born August 4, 1931 in Perrysburg, Ohio to Clarence E. and Dorothy C. (Davis) Jacobs. Richard earned his bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University in 1953, his Master’s Degree from Michigan State University in 1955 and his PH.D. from Michigan State University in 1959; majoring in Organic Chemistry with a minor in Biochemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry. He married Wavalee May Lusher on August 4, 1956 in Perrysburg, Ohio and she preceded him in death in 2012. Richard was a Research Chemist and the Director of Research and Development for Sherwin-Williams Company for over 20 years, retiring in 1981. From 1982-1987 he worked at Principal Business Enterprise and after retirement, Richard was an associate chair in the Department of Chemistry for Bowling Green State University from 1988-1995. He was an honorary member and a Salt Covenant Partner at Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas. Richard is survived by his sons, Richard Lee (Joan) Jacobs, II, Theron Lee (Cheryl) Jacobs, Darick Lee (Kimberly) Jacobs and Paul Lee (Michelle) Jacobs; grandchildren, Chelsea, Courtney, Mathew, Michelle (Devin) Conklin, Angela (Michael) Duvall, Justin, Channing, Madison, Mac and Lola Jacobs; great-grandchildren, Ellisyn and Charlotte Conklin and Braelyn Duvall; and brothers, Gerald (Linda) and Lowell (Becky) Jacobs. Along with his wife Wavalee, he was preceded in death by his parents. Friends will be received Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 2-8 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) where funeral services will be held Friday, October 9, 2015 at 11 A.M. Burial will follow in Fort Meigs Union Cemetery.
