Richard R. Kardatzke, 81, of Royal Oak, MI and formerly Oak Harbor, OH died December 17, 2012 at his residence. He was born on August 24, 1931 in Oak Harbor, OH to Frank and Grace Schiller Kardatzke. Richard graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Richard was a florist who owned and operated two Flower Gallery floral shops in the Detroit, MI area. He was a big supporter of disabled veterans groups and various other charities, and a member of the Ottawa County 4-H Club. Richard enjoyed traveling and wintering in Florida. He was a very creative person who enjoyed art and the finer things in life, and loved to entertain. Richard is survived by his brother: Harold Mabel Kardatzke of Oak Harbor, OH and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Gaylord Kardatzke and sister: Faye Phelan. Memorial services for Richard will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor with visitation one hour prior to the services from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Limestone Cemetery, Limestone, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Richard may be given to the Oakland Distribution Center, P.O. Box 1380, Troy, MI 48099 or the Ottawa County 4-H Endowment Fund, 240 W. Lake St., Oak Harbor, OH 43449 .
