Richard Howard Johnson, 65, of Holland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Genacross Wolf Creek Campus. He was born on September 17, 1953 to Bernard “Russell” and Lois (Hartman) Johnson in Toledo, OH. Before retiring, Richard worked for 30 years in the Springfield School System as a Custodian where he enjoyed working with children. Once he was retired, he spent a lot of time caring for his mother and father who have preceded him in death. He was also a Past President of TNA (Toledo Naturalist Association), an avid bird watcher, and loved the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge. Richard also collected fossils, enjoyed watching college sports; especially The Ohio State Buckeyes football team; and he adored and spoiled his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Left to cherish Richard’s memory are his sisters, Dr. Lynnette Johnson, Susan (Bradford) McPhail, Nancy (Chris) Maenle; nieces and nephews, Janine, Jacob, Amanda, Taylor, Michael, Bryce; five great-nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Friends will be received on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Neville-Shank Funeral Home, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, OH 43528 (419-865-8879). A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. with burial to follow in Springfield Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Richard’s name may be made to the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, 14000 Route 2, Oak Harbor, Ohio 43449.
