Richard E. Jacobs, 84, of Oak Harbor, died early morning, Friday, May 27, 2016, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born March 11, 1932, in Toledo, Ohio, to Lyle E. and Martha (Szalkowski) Jacobs. On October 13, 1956, in Port Clinton, Ohio, he married Veda V. Mitchell and she survives. Richard served in the U.S. Army from 1951-54 during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post #113 in Port Clinton. He managed the Rockwell Hunting Lodge outside of Port Clinton for 32 years retiring in 1987. Being an outdoors person, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and trap shooting. His memberships included the Amateur Trap Shooting Assoc. and the Camp Perry Shooting Club. In addition to Veda, his loving wife of almost 60 years, Richard is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Ann (John) Duncan of Oak Harbor and Marya Lee Jacobs of Moline and brother, Larry Jacobs (Joy Jackson) of Oak Harbor. His parents and an infant sister preceded him in death. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. A private graveside service will be held in Rusha Cemetery, Oak Harbor. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to Carroll Township EMS, 11080 W.
