Richard Iggy Ignatowski of Sylvania, Ohio passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by friends and family, on April 29th, after a protracted illness. Iggy was 64 years old. Most of Iggys life proved too colorful to be printed here, but his limitless generosity, irascibility, and boisterousness will be missed by the hundreds who knew him. A proud, lifelong Toledo-area resident, Iggy pitched baseball for the 4th Ward Old Timers. After graduating from Woodward High School and like his father before him, he began a career at Jeep where he proudly worked on the assembly line for 29 years, retiring in 2000. After retirement he maintained close connections with many of his co-workers. Iggy was active in both the UAW and PRCUA and was proud of his polish heritage. He enjoyed gambling , participating in Las Vegas slot tournaments for many years, and taking great pleasure in blackjack. As a younger man, Iggy enjoyed baseball, darts, horseshoes, and deep sea fishing. Later in life, his favorite things were WWF wrestling, surf and turf, and gangster movies. His greatest joy in life was his relationship with his daughter, Amy Kingsley, and her husband, whom he visited in Arizona, every summer. Iggy is preceded in death by parents John and Gertrude Ignatowski; his son, Ricky Ignatowski; and special friend, Sandy Wieczorek. Iggy is survived by his daughter, Amy David Clark Kingsley; son Mark Ignatowski; girlfriend Debbie Greene; sisters , Denise Laytart and Paula Frank Sifuentes; and nieces and nephews Jennifer, Jason, John, Sean and Vickie. Special thanks to his friends and caregivers Michelle, Barbie, Connie, Pete, Mike Rotch and too many others to mention. Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey on Sunday from 2-8 PM where a Scripture Service will be held at 7 PM. The funeral will begin Monday at 9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 10 AM in Christ the King Church. Interment will follow. As per Iggys wishes Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin will be played at his services. Condolences may be sent to the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com
