Richard “Dick” Frederick Holly, age 81, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at his home. Born in Port Clinton on June 27, 1941 to Andrew and Alice (Pauls) Holly, Dick grew up on the Holly Farm and joined the United States Navy in 1958 where he served on board the USS Bennington until he was medically discharged in 1960. He went on to have a long and fulfilling career at the Chrysler Toledo Machining Plant where he worked in machine repair and vibration analysis until he retired in 2004. During his early years, he also served as a Volunteer Fire Lieutenant at the Perrysburg Township Fire Department.
Dick loved spending time with his family. He was very artistic; in his younger years he enjoyed woodworking in his garage. He was always eager to help a friend or neighbor with any project, and if he didn’t have the tool you needed, he would come up with an alternative – MacGyver-style! His creative spirit led him to painting, crafting, coloring, and even working with Diamond Dotz. Always wanting to stay busy, Dick enjoyed spending time outdoors whether it was fishing, camping, gardening, or just being out in nature.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Julie; his children, Michael (Alison) Holly, Richard (Steven Pederson) Holly, Brian Holly, Lori (Robert Ramey) Holly; and grandchildren, Steven Holly, Derek Holly, Pike Ramey, and Rook Ramey. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Andrew; his brother John and sisters Alice and Judith survive.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at the Gerner-Wolf Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street. Online condolences may be given at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com
