Richard L Hanely

RICHARD L. HANELY Richard L. Hanely, age 91, of Walbridge, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013, at Heartland of Oregon. He was born on January 19, 1922, in Lake Twp. to Clyde and Ruby (Schatzer) Hanely. Richard proudly served his country in The United States Navy during WWII. He was employed by Prudential Life Insurance Co. as an Insurance Agent. He was also employed by the Toledo Water Department and at the airport. Richard was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Oregon and a lifetime member of Walbridge VFW Post#9963, where he was the oldest member. Richard loved playing basketball and was a standout player at Lake High School. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, and playing cards. He is survived by his brother-in-laws, George (Janet) Williams and Richard Williams; sister-in-laws, Barbara (John) Veronie, Dori Hanely, and Caroline (Grant) Morgan; special nieces and nephews, Karen (Tom) Toth and Glenn Hofbauer (Fianceé Anne Cowens); many other loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve; brothers, Glenn, Howard, Paul, and Jess Hanely. Friends will be received on Saturday, November 16, 2013, from 12 until the time of services at 2:00pm. in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home 701 N. Main St. Walbridge (419-666-3121). Burial will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Honor Flight, Christ United Methodist Church or Donor’s Choice.
