Richard Harold Guy
October 15, 1936 – July 11, 2025
Richard H. Guy, 88, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, at St. Vincent's Medical Center Neuroscience ICU, Toledo, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Tiffin, Ohio, on October 15, 1936, Richard was the son of Earl Guy Sr. and Dorothy (Swope) Guy. He was a proud graduate of Macomber High School, Class of 1954, and served his country honorably in the United States Navy.
On April 15, 1960, Richard married the love of his life, Marilyn L. Guy (Crowley). Together, they built a life full of love, family, and shared passions that spanned 65 years.
Richard was a longtime member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 33 and served as an instructor at the Cotter Apprenticeship School. He spent the majority of his career with the A.H. Lumm Company, a division of the Robert Irsay Company in Toledo, where he rose through the ranks to become General Manager, retiring in 1996. That same year, he joined Delta Air Systems, working alongside his son Jim. In 1997, he acquired the company and successfully led it until its sale in 2002, after which he and Marilyn retired to The Villages, Florida, and ultimately to St. Augustine in 2021.
Richard had a passion for home improvement and took great joy in working on projects with Marilyn in and around the many homes and cottages they shared, including recently remodeling their own kitchen and bathrooms in their newest St. Augustine home which they acquired in December of 2023. He also loved volunteering his time and talents to help his children with their own home projects.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Earl Guy Jr., Donald Guy, William Guy, and Dorothy Gillette; and granddaughter, Katie Guy.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn; his sisters, Carolyn Kapp and Virginia (Ronald) Goulet; his children, John R. (Janet) Guy, James E. (Danielle) Guy, and Laura L. (Slater) Nash; grandchildren, Angela Zeigler, Jami Engel, Shannon Berry, Samantha Althoff, Kristina Frye, Rachel Nash, Taylor Nash, Amber Parrish, and Lucas Parrish, and 12 great-grandchildren.
