Richard J. Grogg

Richard J. Grogg died peacefully on February 5, 2022, and went home to be with his Lord Jesus, surrounded by his family at Rosary Care Center in Sylvania, OH. Richard J. Grogg was born in Bryant, IN on January 8, 1931, to Jesse and Nora Grogg. Richard grew up on a farm in Bryant, IN and met his wife, Marilyn Brown, at Westfield Bible College in Indiana. Richard and Marilyn were married on September 4, 1954, in Toledo, OH and were married 61 years.

Richard Grogg served 4 years in the army and 2 of those years were in Germany. He served as a medic with the army. Richard and Marilyn settled in Toledo, OH where Richard worked 41 years at Libbey Glass. Marilyn taught with Toledo Public schools. Richard enjoyed riding his motorcycle and playing Uno with family and friends. Richard and Marilyn attended church and volunteered as well. Richard also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Nora Grogg, brothers Virgil, Alfred (June), Darryl Grogg (Mary), and sister Thelma Grogg. Also, his beloved wife, Marilyn Grogg, and daughters Jennifer Grogg and an infant daughter.

Richard is survived by his children, Carolyn Stringfield (Dewey), Stephen Grogg (Becky), and Suzanne Neifer (David). His grandchildren, Sarah Louviere (Mike), Chad Wolfe (Melanie), David Stringfield (Rachel), Melissa Bahleda (Matt), Tyler Grogg, Alex Grogg (Becca), Stephanie Turner (Dylan), Ashley Cooke (Aaron), Abigail and Christian Neifer. Great grandchildren, Willow, Jabin, Adelyn, Emra, Sophie, and James. Brother-in-law, Jonathan Brown (Betty). Also, many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank all the wonderful and supportive staff who took care of Richard at Sisters of St. Francis Rosary Care Center in Sylvania, OH. Friends will be received on Friday, February 11, 2022, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home , 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH 43623 (419-841-2422), until the time of Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m.  Entombment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
