Richard Edward Goodnough, 75, of Sylvania Township, passed away July 2, 2017, at home. He was born July 3, 1941, in Monroe, Mich., the son of Clarence and Creddwyn Goodnough. Mr. Goodnough was a 1959 graduate of Toledo Central Catholic High School. He also served proudly in the U.S. Air Force from 1959-63. He was employed for 20 years at Owens-Illinois as a lab technician, and later worked as a teachers assistant for the Lucas County Board of Education. He was an avid Detroit sports fan, and was a longtime University of Michigan football season ticket holder. He had a passion for classic movies and TV shows, especially Westerns, as well as books, jazz and sports statistics. He married Janice Wiesolek on Oct. 15, 1966. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Doug and his girlfriend, Janelle Tuckerman, of Pittsford, Mich.; and Brian and his wife, Sarah, of Sylvania Township; two grandchildren, Ava and Jack; and one brother, Michael and his wife, Brenda, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey )where funeral services will begin Thursday at 12:30 PM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania. Burial will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Cleveland Clinic liver transplant program or to the Parkinson Foundation.
