Richard H. Fry passed away Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. Dick was born April 17, 1916 in Toledo, OH to Euclid and Mabel Fry. He was a 1934 graduate of Scott High School and attended Michigan State and Wayne State Universities before going into business full time with his father. Dick and his brothers, Bob and Ed, took over Fry Heating from their father in the 1940s after their father retired due to illness. The business was renamed Fry Bros. Heating and Air-Conditioning Co., Inc. but the Bros. was eventually dropped when the third generation of Frys became active in the business. Dick sang in the choir at Glenwood Lutheran Church and later at Hope Lutheran Church where he met his future wife, Mary Jane Ball, in 1936. They married at Hope Church in 1941 and were the first couple to have a wedding soon after the church was built. They were married for 66 years until Mary Janes death in 2007. Dick and his family loved boating and living on the water. They were longtime members of Toledo Yacht Club and Maumee River Yacht Club in Northwest Ohio and of Pass-a-Grille Yacht Club near St. Petersburg, FL, where Dick and Mary Jane lived for 20 years. Dick spent many summers cruising the Great Lakes and Canada with his family. Their last long trip was in 1989 when they cruised from St. Petersburg, FL to Toledo, OH. Dick is survived by his children, Carol Ron Scheff, Mary Kay Ralph Wilkerson, and Tom Beth Nace Fry; grandchildren, Sheryl Scheff Ken Keller, Rob Shannon Scheff, Cathy Scheff Van Fossen, Stephanie Wilkerson Perkins, Julie Wilkerson Tom Frederick, Brian Elizabeth Wilkerson, Erica Fry Andy Kimble, and Scott Fry; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Ed Neva Fry, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Dick was preceded in death by an infant son, his brother, Robert and sister-in-law, Myra. Visitation will be on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 6-8:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where services will be held on Saturday at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church, 2201 Secor Rd.
