Richard J. Frankie

Richard J. Frankie, 87, of Ottawa Hills, OH, a teacher and university professor for many years, passed away after a long illness on January 8, 2018 at his home. He was a splendid athlete in his early years, Dr. Frankie in later life was an avid golfer and birdwatcher. He combined these two hobbies over many years in travels in Europe and the United States. Richard is survived by his wife, Suzanne Openlander Frankie; as well as nieces and nephews, Julie Donofrio Kramp, Susie Donofrio, Anthony (Sue) Donofrio, Michael Donofrio, Marie Alice Donofrio, David (Ula) Wagner, and Claudia (Tim) Wagner Hackworth. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Margaret (Smith) Frankie. A private ceremony and burial will be held in Charlevoix, Michigan. Walker Funeral Home is assisting the family.
