Richard T Fox

Richard T. Fox, age 87, entered peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Richard (Dick) Fox was born to Virl (V.O.) and Bertha (Schindler) Fox on February 20, 1929. He was a 1947 graduate of Central Catholic High School. Richard devoted more than 50 years of his life toward building and expanding the family-owned business, Ohio Roofing and Siding Company. The roofing industry was a passion that he shared with his sons and grandsons. Along with serving as an Usher at St. Joseph’s Maumee, Richard was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Senior Golf League at the Heatherdowns Country Club. Being an avid fisherman was one of Richard’s true passions. He enjoyed fly fishing “Up North” on the Au Sable River at the family cabin. His love of fishing also drew him to the Arctic Circle, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Gulf of Mexico. Most fond are his memories of fishing on Lake Erie with his children and grandchildren. Richard enjoyed adventures with his best friend and brother, Fred, as the two of them traveled various places together, and spent the winters in Florida biking, golfing, and visiting their favorite casinos. Richard enjoyed weekly poker games with his friends and lunches at Dale’s. If you spent any time at all with Richard, you know he had a story to tell. He had an infectious sense of humor and a true zeal for life. Surviving to cherish his memory are his brother Fred Fox; children: Thomas (Marilyn) Fox, Mary Katherine (Ron) Cseh, Linda (Tom) Flaskamp, Joseph (Melody) Fox, and David Fox, step-children: Douglas Schnitkey, Beth-Ann (Bob) Spafford, Alan Schnitkey, and Becky Gibson. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret (Beaber), with whom he shared 28 years of marriage and by his wife, Marilyn (Miller), with whom he shared 23 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles, sisters Virginia and Mary Fae, and grandson Nathan Fox. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St. Maumee with a scripture service to be held at 7:00 pm. Additional visitation will be held after 10:00 on Friday December 23, 2016 at the funeral home with prayers to begin at 10:45 am and Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 104 W. Broadway St., Maumee. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio or St. Joan of Arc Church.
