Richard Dick Evans, Sr.

Evans Richard Dick E., Sr. Richard Dick Evans, Sr. passed away Friday, July 4, 2008 at St. Annes Hospital in Toledo. Born in Elkins, WV to Royal and Mae Evans on September 2, 1927, Dick was a veteran of the US Navy and US Coast Guard serving in WWII. He married Shirley York on June 27, 1951 in Cheboygan, MI and together they enjoyed camping, going to flea markets, antiquing, and restoring old Schwinn bicycles. Dick worked at CSX Railroad for 36 years retiring in 1987. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and of the Railroad Union. In addition to his wife Shirley, Dick is survived by his children, Elizabeth James E. Morrow, Richard Patty Evans, Jr., Evelyn Dee Evans-Eck Jim Eck, and Eyvonne Teena Frye; grandchildren, Joel Dr. Ross Mahowald Morrow, Rachel Morrow-Kaczorowski Jason, Todd Evans, Shelly Kurt Joseph, Jenalle Eck, and Cody and Courtney Frye; great-grandchildren, Drake and Hayden Joseph and Karsen Kaczorowski; brothers, Gary Mary, William Sandy, Neal Kay Ann, and Robert Gladys Evans; sisters, Grace Buchanan, Elsie Smith, and Isabelle T.C. Koger; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, James, Donald, and Bus Evans; and sister, Mary. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 6-8:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania west of Corey Rd.. There will be no funeral services.
