Richard Alan “Dick” Coble, retired lawyer and businessman, passed away Wednesday morning March 28, 2018 in the gym of the Kingston Rehabilitation Facility. This was fitting, as Dick was an outstanding athlete who had not been able to pursue his lifelong love of fitness for the last couple of years due to illness. Dick Coble was born in Toledo on September 25, 1931, graduated from Heidelberg College, and earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Toledo College of Law. Most of his early career was spent working at his father’s business, The Northern Ohio Investment Company. Upon his father’s death, Dick and his brother-in-law, John Wilson, ran the company for a number of years before selling it to the Vinciguerra family. Dick later worked as an independent broker in Las Vegas and New York and then returned to Toledo to practice law, first with his son John and friend Joseph Albrechta at Albrechta & Coble, followed by the formation of his own firm, Coble & Urenovitch. Dick was preceded in death by his mother, Maye Lyerly Coble, his father, John Coble, and his sister, Barbara Wilson. Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved partner in life and companion of many years, Lillian Casey, as well as his children, John Coble (Karin), Kimberly Barabé (Richard), and Peter Coble. Dick will be especially mourned by his grandchildren, Richard Coble and Owen Coble, with whom he created many happy memories during their youth. He will also be fondly remembered by his step-grandchildren, Forrest Samson and Kira Clarkson. He is also survived by his former wife, Nancy May, his former daughter-in-law, Cynthia Rundquist, his nieces and nephew, Cynthia Teznar (Joseph), Deborah Wilson, Lynne Wilson, Natalie Swonger (William and children Kirsten, Jennifer, and Christopher), and Christopher Wilson (Anthony), as well as by his law partner and close friend, Joseph Urenovitch. The family wishes to thank the owners and staff of the Classic Café in Sylvania, and their families, for the many kindnesses they have shown to Dick and Lillian through the years. Dick Coble had many friends in the legal and business community, and will be remembered for his tremendous charm, athleticism, movie-star looks, and puckish sense of humor. In accord with his longstanding wishes there will be no visitation, no ceremony, no funeral, and his interment will be private. Arrangements by Walker Funeral Home and condolences may be shared with the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com
