Richard P. Branum

Richard Curly P. Branum, 84, of Oak Harbor, died peacefully in his home, Tuesday, October 28, 2014. Dick was born September 6, 1930, in Port Clinton, Ohio, to Paul E. and Teresa B. (Teeters) Branum and graduated in 1948 from Port Clinton High School. On July 19, 1952, in Oak Harbor, he married Norma L. Suhrbier and she survives. After working many years for Mulligans LP, Bonded, Emro and Ferrell Gas, he retired as a serviceman and plant manager. Dick was an active member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor, where he served on several committees. He served in the Army National Guard and in 1953 received the Bronze Star Medal for Valor while serving in the Army during the Korean war. Many of Dicks hobbies included fishing golfing, bowling, dartball and softball. He was a 4-H advisor and the first Cub Scout Master for Pack #384 in Oak Harbor. He liked the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes; but Dick especially enjoyed the time spent with his family-BBQs, traveling, and playing ball. He is survived by his loving wife, Norma, sons, Glenn (Barbara) Branum and Rex (Sylvia) Branum, daughters, Kay (Mike) Hazlett and Lisa (Chuck) Adams; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; brothers, Allen (Martha) Branum, Charles (Jan) Branum, and his sister, Gloria Hart. Dick is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents preceded him in death. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., with the family present 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, October 30, 2014, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Oak Harbor. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 31, 2014, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, followed by military graveside services in Roose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials for Dick to be given to St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 9789 W. Oak Harbor SE Rd., Oak Harbor, OH 43449; Hospice of Memorial Hospital, 430 S. Main St., Clyde, OH 43410; or the donors choice.
