Richard Corky C. Avery, 45, of Oak Harbor, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at his residence. He was born on May 23, 1967 in Toledo, OH to Ernest Avery and Sharon Hawkins Avery-Lamalie. On August 16, 1986, in Oak Harbor, he married Vickie Grosjean and she survives. He graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1985 and had 4 years of Boilermaker Apprentice Training earning numerous OSHA certificates and project management training. Corky worked as a Boilermaker Superintendant for Local #85, Rossford, OH and also served as an instructor for the Boilermaker Apprenticeship Training Program. He was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church, Graytown. Corky was a huge NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Jimmy Johnson. He also enjoyed watching The Ohio State University football team. Corky liked watching movies on his great home theatre system and being in his garage welding and fabricating. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In addition to his loving wife of 27 years, Vickie, Corky is survived by his sons: Justin Avery of Port Clinton and Joshua Avery of Oak Harbor, siblings: David Avery of North Carolina, Donise Joe Bickerstaff of Oklahoma, Danny Debbie Avery of Perrysburg, Steve Avery of Marion, Ernie Cindi Avery, Larry Evelyn Avery, James Judy Avery, and Cathy John Lorton, all of Oregon, OH, Sharon Avery of Florida, Paul Helen Reynolds of Indiana, David Karen Reynolds of Murray City, OH, and Vicki Reynolds of Toledo, step-mother: Audrey Avery of Oak Harbor, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant sister: Nancy Avery. Visitation will be Friday, May 24, 2013 from noon - 8:00 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 25, 2013 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 165 Toussaint St., Oak Harbor with Pastor Robert Brandt and Reverend David Voll officiating. Interment will follow in Elliston Cemetery, Elliston. Memorial contributions for Corky may be given to St. Marks Lutheran Church, Graytown, St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor or a charity of the donors choice.
