Rhoda I. Bloomfield, 85, of Genoa, Ohio, and formerly of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, died early Monday morning, April 9, 2012, in the Genoa Retirement Village, Genoa. Rhoda was born April 11, 1926, in Emerson, Kentucky, to Ezra E. and Flora A. Gilliam Stephens. On January 7, 1943, in Vanceburg, Kentucky, she married Hazel G. Bloomfield, and he preceded her in death October 19, 1980. Rhoda was a homemaker and had been very active with the Salvation Army of Ft. Walton Beach. She was known as the Pin Lady, recognized by the Governor of Florida, for making and selling pins to raise money for the Salvation Army and the Red Cross after 9-11. Her survivors include: children, Faye Hale of Clay Center, Leonard Sandy Bloomfield of Genoa, Irene Ronald Johnson of Elmore, Kay Frank Wurzelbacher of Toledo and John R. Bond of Genoa, daughter-in-law, Diane Bloomfield of Rocky Ridge, son-in-law, Mike Spooneybarger of Crestview, FL step daughter, Alma Wolfe of Vanceburg, KY; 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren; and siblings, James Bond and Jack Bond, of Vanceburg, KY. Rhoda was preceded in death by: parents, husband, son, Emil Bloomfield, daughter, Donna Spooneybarger; son-in-law, Douglas Hale; great grandson, Derrick Wurzelbacher; sisters, Christine McDaniel and Alice Cooper, brothers, Sam and Lloyd Bond and Farris Stephens; and step son, Earl Bloomfield. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2012, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 13, 2012, at the funeral home with interment to follow in Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery, Elmore. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials for Rhoda to the American Red Cross, 3100 W. Central Ave., Toledo, OH 43606; or the Salvation Army, 620 N. Erie St., Toledo, OH 43604.
