Rhea Frances Treece Longenecker, age 90, of Perrysburg, OH, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Rhea was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 2, 1922 to parents, Frances ORourke and Roy Treece. She was a cum laude graduate of Northern High School in Detroit, Michigan and attended Davis and Owens College in Toledo. During the World War II years, she was involved in USO activities and belonged to the Business Girls League of the YWCA and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. For ten years, she worked in the Service Division of then Spicer Corporation. In 1958, she began working at Columbia Gas and retired from there as secretary to the District Manager. She was a long-time member of Monroe Street United Methodist Church where she met her husband, Paul. They married in 1972. Throughout her life, Rhea, participated in volunteer programs and was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Altar Guild, Church Women United, former administrative board and other committees. Rhea was given recognition by Medical Mutual for volunteer work at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, the Way Library, and church programs. Her memberships included Truine Chapter of Eastern Star, Dendarah Ladies Shrine, Scottish Rite Ladies Auxiliary, the Chanterettes, the Toledo Museum of Art and Wood County Senior Club. She is survived by her god child, Karen Wagner; sister-in-law, Florence Oxford and many Longenecker extended family members including Paul Black, James Black and Rebecca Hendershott. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister-in-law and brother-in-law. Visitation will begin Monday, June 24, 2013 at 10 am in Monroe Street United Methodist Church, 3613 Monroe St., Toledo until the time of memorial service which will start at 11 am.
