Renee L. Christen

Renee L. Christen, 56, of Perrysburg, OH passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. Renee was born in Toledo on April 21, 1961 to Leonard C. and Marcia L. (Miller) Rusch. She was a 1979 graduate of Perrysburg High School and also graduated summa cum laude from Lourdes University with a degree in Sociology. Renee was an active volunteer with many local organizations including CASA, Shared Life Studios, Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, the American Heart Association, the Toledo Museum of Art and Lial Elementary in Whitehouse. She enjoyed many hobbies including cooking, playing guitar, photography, gardening, and decorating her home. Renee is survived by her children, Sarah L. Christen and Frederick Scott Christen; mother, Marcia Rusch; brother Randy (Debbie) Rusch; her beloved cat, Lenny; and many, many devoted and cherished friends and family. She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard in 2006, grandmother Evelyn Miller, and her father-in-law Fred Christen. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, OH 43551 (419-874-3133). In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials be made in the form of contributions to Be The Match (National Marrow Donor Program). To the world she was a small part, to her family she WAS the world.
