Rebecca Becki Ballenger

Rebecca S. “Becki” (Spoerl) Ballenger, 61, passed away Monday, February 13, 2017 at Cleveland Clinic. Becki was born February 24, 1955 in Toledo, Ohio to John and Phyllis (Chamberlain) Spoerl. Becki graduated High School from Toledo Bowsher and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Toledo. She married Bob Ballenger on October 10, 1987 in Stony Ridge, Ohio. Becki had several jobs over the years such as serving as a Parole Officer, a Youth Minister, a teacher, and currently an Insurance Agent with State Farm since 1991. She was also a member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg. Becki loved to play the piano and enjoyed music. She was an Adopt-A-School Tutor and an advisor for the Junior Achievement for Toledo Public Schools. She also loved to travel, especially with her husband. Becki is survived by her loving husband, Bob; children, Hans (Veronica) Schmidlin, Taylor Ballenger; mother, Phyllis Spoerl; sisters, Debbi (Mike) Grimm, Tami (Dave) Walbom; and nieces and nephews, Liz, Rob, JD, and Thomas Walbom, Jeff and Adam Carr, and Josh, Jared, and Leah Ballenger. She was preceded in death by her father, John. Friends will be received on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133). Visitation will continue on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 10 A.M. at Zoar Lutheran Church, 314 E. Indiana Ave, Perrysburg, where the Funeral Service will begin at 11 A.M. with Pastor Timothy P. Philabaum, officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Road, Perrysburg.
