Raymond L. Phillips, Sr.

Raymond L. Phillips Sr. age 89 of Maumee, Ohio passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Ray was born in Toledo on December 11, 1927 to Vasile and Beulah (Oliver) Phillips. He was a graduate of Libbey High School and was employed at Standard Oil Company for many years. Ray later became an iron worker for Local 55. He was a United States Army veteran serving his country during the Korean War. Rays memberships included Bethel Lutheran Church in Toledo where he was a longtime member having served in many capacities; Damascus-Collingwood Masonic Lodge #643 F&AM, Scottish Rite; Zenobia Shrine, Shriners Arab Patrol and Maumee Elks. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Joanna; spending time with his family, playing cards and socializing with his Shriner and Mason friends. Ray is survived by his sons, Raymond Jr., Jeff (Linda); daughter in-law, Linda Phillips; grandchildren, Michelle, Lauren, Alison, Brookelyn and Lucas; great-grandchildren, Travis, Aubrey, Blake and Lena. Also surviving is a brother, Paul (Dee) Phillips and sister in-law, Joyce Berndt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Joanna and his son, Mike Phillips. Family and friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant Dt., Maumee on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 3:00-8:00 PM with Damascus-Collingwood Masonic Lodge Services at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 9. 2017 at 10:00 AM followed by military services. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E.
