Raymond R. Pat Patterson

Raymond Pat R. Patterson, 84, of Genoa, Ohio, died Friday, January 1, 2016, in the Genoa Retirement Village, where he had been a resident for the past two months. He was born in Wilmington, Ohio, on October 17, 1931, to Robert L. and Norma J. (Forte) Patterson. He married Lynette A. Recker in Genoa on September 20, 1969. Pat was a truck driver for Roadway Express for 30 years retiring in 1990, and during his retirement years he enjoyed fishing and bowling. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1950-1954 with a portion of that time served in Guam and aboard the U.S.S. Pickaway. Pat was a member of the American Legion Post #324 in Genoa and the VFW Post #4353, St. James City, Florida. Pat said that the highlight of his years was the trip he made to Washington, D.C., in 2014 as a guest of the Honor Flight Program. Pat is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lynette, daughters, Pamela Simmons and Rae Anne Collins both of Columbus, Ohio, grandchildren, Kristi Simmons, Sheri Lugenbeel, Brian Collins, Kami Case, and Lote Patterson, sister, Margaret Dailey of New Lebanon, Ohio, and brother, James (Joann) Patterson of Wilmington, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, John R., Raymond R. and Samuel R. Patterson, brothers, Robert and Roy Patterson, and sisters, Helen Whirtsler and Jane Tenor. It was Pats wishes that no services be held and that he be reunited with his sons in Washington Courthouse, Ohio. The family has suggested that any memorials in his name be directed to American Legion Post #324, P.O. Box 130, Genoa, OH 43430; the Allen-Clay Joint Fire District Station #3, 101 E. 6th Street, Genoa, OH 43430; or the donors choice. The family is being assisted with arrangements by the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St, Genoa, OH 43430. Lynette and family would like to thank the staff at Genoa Retirement Village for their loving care during Pats stay with them. Their kindness will never be forgotten.
