Raymond Earl Goodman, D.O., age 86, of Chagrin Falls, and formerly of Toledo, died November 24, 2023. He was born January 24, 1937, in Detroit, MI to the late Raymond and Dorothy (Bryant) Goodman and graduated from Mumford High School. He attended both Hillsdale College and Wayne State University before earning his medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Goodman worked in a family practice partnership for 2 years and then his own family practice office for 8 more years before deciding to make a change to emergency medicine. He would serve his residency in Toledo where he stayed and practiced for another 10 years. Dr. Goodman and his family then relocated to the Cleveland area where he co-founded Emergency Medical Resources, an emergency department team of physicians serving numerous area hospitals. In all, he practiced medicine for nearly 50 years.
In his free time, Raymond enjoyed playing golf, reading, and traveling with his wife. He found his greatest joy in sharing time with his family, especially at the family chalet that he had built in Wisconsin. There you could find Raymond snowmobiling, hunting, or choosing the family Christmas tree from his property. He will also be remembered for his appreciation of all genres of music and for his kind, considerate and gentle nature.
Left to cherish Raymond’s memory are his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Stegeman) Goodman; children, Raymond Goodman, Ted Tehensky, Danny Goodman, and Stacy Hatfield (Alan); grandchildren, Raymond, Nicholas, Anna, Maxwell, Logan, Alexandria, Victoria, and Christopher; and sister, Marjorie Ambrose (Richard). He was also preceded in death by a son, Christopher, and brother, Thomas.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 4-7 p.m., Monday, December 4, 2023, in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.), where his funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Father Ron Olszewski will preside with interment to follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
