Raymond Herbert Duwve

January 17, 1944 — April 11, 2016

On Monday April 11, 2016 , Ray’s years and years of suffering from COPD finally ended. God took him to heaven where he will never have to worry about enough oxygen again. Born January 17, 1944, Ray was a lifelong resident of Toledo. He attended grade school at St. Agnes and graduated from DeVillbis High School. He also attended the University of Toledo . Ray was employed by First Solar and previously retired from Columbia Gas after 31 years. He was a Trustee for the Toledo Chapter of the National Management Association, a member of the Utility Workers Union of America, Local 349 and a Notary Public. Ray enjoyed hunting boating and fishing. He loved to tackle home improvement projects and work in his garden. Ray touched many lives with his warmth and generosity. He was known in our neighborhood as Uncle Ray. He and his best friend (our dog Gracie) were known for their walks. They would received bones and water from our friendly neighbors, while they listened to long stories about our grandsons. In the later years even these walks had to stop. Ray is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Kristina Duwve-Eschedor; son, Jeffrey (Cynthia) Miller; grandsons, Adam and Evan Miller; sister, Mary Alice (Dr. Daniel) Hartnett and sister-in-law, Janis Duwve. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Thelma (Stevens) Duwve and brother, James Duwve. Friends and family will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a scripture service at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joan of Arc Parish, 5856 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, Ohio on Monday, April 18, 2016 at 10:30 AM. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Old News Boys Association, PO Box 2032, Toledo, Ohio 43604 or St. Lukes Hospital Respiratory Foundation, 5757 Monclova Road, Maumee, Ohio 43537.
