Ray C. Shepherd, age 81, of Holland passed away on February 26, 2015 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Ray was born in Hueysville, Kentucky on September 3, 1933 to Sigler & Mary (Cornell) Shepherd. He married Judy Glynn in Toledo on May 25, 1957 who preceded him in death on June 25, 1998. A Veteran of the US Army, Ray was a caring, loving and dedicated father. Ray enjoyed bowling, fishing, country music and golf. He was especially proud of scoring a hole in 1. He loved touring the country on motorcycle trips with his son, and the occasional family vacation---most recently to Nashville to celebrate his 80th birthday in true country style. He retired after 40 years with Independent Concrete Pipe. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving are his children, Daniel R. (Judy) Shepherd; Debra L. (Steve) Smith; Diane S. (Michael) Brandt; Denise K. (Jason) Tansey; grandchildren, Emily & Danielle Smith; Allison, Erin & Patrick Brandt; Madison, Malorie & Max Tansey; his loving companion Shirley Smith; brothers, Paul Shepherd and Ronnie (Gigi) Shepherd. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Douglas Shepherd; brothers, Kelsey & Earl Shepherd and sisters, Viola, Pauline and Roberta. Friends and family will be received in the Neville Funeral Home, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland (419-865-8879) from 3-8 pm Monday, where funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. Burial will follow at Springfield Township Cemetery.
