Randall "Randy" James Kremnetz

Sep 22, 1948 — Jul 3, 2026

Randall "Randy" James Kremnetz, age 77, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026.

Born on September 22, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio, and raised in Ottawa Lake, Michigan, Randy was the son of Louis and Juanita (Van Tress) Kremnetz. He graduated from Whiteford Agricultural High School with the Class of 1966 and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His love of God and his love of country were the guiding foundations of his life.

Randy spent much of his career as a self-employed scrap metal recycler, but his true passions extended far beyond his work. He had a remarkable ability to see beauty and value in things others overlooked, often discovering unique pieces of brass or treasures he knew a family member or friend would appreciate. Acts of kindness came naturally to Randy, and he found genuine joy in giving to others without expecting anything in return. A talented woodworker, he also found great joy in plants and the beauty of nature. He became known for his famous "Pa's Pickles," a family tradition that reflected his generosity, creativity, and love for those around him.

Randy possessed an extraordinary curiosity and a lifelong love of learning. He was passionate about history, politics, current events, theology, and could engage in thoughtful conversation on nearly any subject. With a sharp mind, quick wit, and exceptional memory, he had a gift for connecting ideas and sharing knowledge in a way that inspired those around him. He was also wonderfully independent and uniquely himself-a man who marched to the beat of his own drum and never lost his willingness to question, explore, and see the world from his own perspective.

His daughters will forever cherish the countless conversations they shared with him-conversations that challenged them, taught them, made them laugh, and encouraged them to keep asking questions and seeking understanding. To know Randy was to leave every conversation having learned something new.

Above all, Randy was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved his family deeply and gave them a lifetime of wisdom, encouragement, and unwavering support. He taught those he loved the importance of faith, integrity, hard work, curiosity, kindness, and never losing a sense of wonder #kremnetz.

Randy is survived by his daughters, Ashley (Matt) Lambert and Cortney (Nate) Smith; grandchildren, Grace Lambert, Tula Smith, and Devin Zylstra; and siblings, Kandace Kremnetz, Deb (Joe) Salenbien, and Tony (Terry) Kremnetz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Juanita Kremnetz, and his infant daughter, Brooke Kremnetz.
