Ralph F. Nissen

Ralph F. Nissen, 89, of Oregon, Ohio, died early Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. Ralph was born November 1, 1920, in Williston, Ohio, to Christ and Louise Haack Nissen. On June 6, 1946, in Williston he married Eunice G. Lowe and she survives. Ralph was a lifetime farmer and part owner of Nissen Concrete, which he sold to his nephews in 1990. Ralph drove truck and hauled stone for the business for years until his retirement. He was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Williston and an honorary member of the Jerusalem Township Vol. Fire Dept., where he was active for 16 years. Having served as a pilot in the Army Air Force during WWII, Ralph was a lifetime member of Christ Dunberger American Legion Post #537 in Oregon and served as its post commander for four years; he was also a lifetime member of the Genoa-Clay Center VFW Post #7510 of Clay Center, Ohio. In addition to his wife, Eunice, Ralph is survived by his daughters, Sharon R. Donald Ludwig of Canton and Marcia G. Gregory Konczal of Oregon; grandchildren, Matthew Heather Ludwig, Michael Christine Ludwig, Erika Roger Stewart, Nathan Aime Konczal, Philip Amanda Konczal, Monica Konczal and Elizabeth Konczal; great grandchildren, Abigail and Allison Ludwig, Kaleb, Mackenzie, and Kallie Ludwig, and Taylor and Hannah Ulik; sister, Dorothy Mae Kinsel of Williston; and brother-in-law, Alvin Lowe of Genoa. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Viola Liskai and Lucille Farris, and brothers, Marvin, Donald and Harold Nissen. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010, in St. John Lutheran Church, Williston, with military graveside service to follow in Allen Township Cemetery.
