Rachel Annette Volschow

September 26, 1974 — December 4, 2020

Rachel A. Volschow, 46, of Genoa, passed away peacefully Friday, December 4, 2020 at home with her parents by her side. She was born in Toledo, September 26, 1974 to Ernesto H. Sanchez and Sharon L. Porter and graduated from Genoa High School, class of 1992. Rachel was a special mom, caring not only for Grant and Madison but also Grant’s friends who needed a place to stay. She met her own medical challenges and those of her own children with determination to obtain the best knowledge and care she could. She was an avid Buckeye Football and Genoa Comets wrestling fan. She was always there to support and cheer her children in any sport they participated in. Rachel also loved being with family, friends and proudly being referred to as “Sophia” with her Golden Girls. So many have described her as their HERO or as the strongest person they ever knew but she wanted people to know she fought hard for her kids. Rachel is survived by her daughter, Madison (Cullin Liskai) Volschow, parents, Ernesto (Serene) Sanchez and Sharon (Carl) Dietrich, grandson, Colt Liskai, sisters, Kerrie (Victorino) Sanchez-Rodriguez, Casie (Kasey DeMelo) Dietrich, grandmother, Joan Dietrich, and niece, Madilyn Rodriguez, nephew, Victorino Rodriguez along with a host of extended family. She was preceded in death by her son, Grant Volschow and grandparents, Cipriano & Manuela Sanchez, Merle & Jean Porter and Elroy Dietrich. We wish to thank her extended family, friends and the community for ALL the acts of kindness and love. From your hugs to vacations, from watching Duece and Sugar, to mowing her lawn, from greeting cards, to supporting fundraisers, from boat rides to flowers, from baked treats to entire meals, from phone calls to lengthy visits. Thank you to her medical community, who extended her life, especially to be here for her children. A graveside service for Rachel will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. Social distancing and the requirement of masks will be observed. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com. Rachel never met a dog she didn’t love. Often, she was found loving and petting a dog. The family wishes that ALL memorials be directed to the Ottawa County Humane Society, 2424 E. Sand Road, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452.
