R. Dale Reeder, 87, of Toledo, Ohio and formerly of Millbury, Ohio, passed away on October 22, 2021, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born on April 17, 1934, in Clay Center, Ohio to Raymond and Eda (Schissler) Reeder. He married Shirley A. (Cashen) on November 24, 1956, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Genoa, Ohio. Dale retired in 1996 from the Lions store men’s department where he had worked for 37 years. During tomato season, for 5 years, Dale worked for the Hirzel Canning factory sorting tomatoes. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was especially proud of his mounted deer head. Dale was raised on a farm near Clay Center and enjoyed the outdoors. He and Shirley spent years together on the farmland. Gardening was his pride and joy. His favorite hobby was raising his special tomatoes and strawberries. He had a fruit and vegetable stand in his front yard for many years. Dale had served as a member and past president of the Genoa Area Local Schools Board of Education for eight years. He was a dedicated and life-long member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Genoa serving as church president, vice-president and taught Sunday school to the youth. The youth fellowship program at church is where he and Shirley met, many years ago. Dale was always a very devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and loved every moment he spent with his family. In addition to his wife of 64 years, Shirley, Dale is survived by his daughters, Amy (Bruce) Perry of Rossford, Julie (Jeff) Billings of Genoa, Tina (Dave) Vogelpohl of Perrysburg, grandchildren, Jake (Shawna) Perry, Josh (Chelsie) Perry, Kristopher Ramsdell, Emily Ramsdell (Jake Lochotzki), Aaron Billings, Megan (Ben) Wolfe, Jason Forsythe, Seven great-grandchildren, and brother, Richard (Marilyn) Reeder of Genoa along with nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond & Eda Reeder, stepmother, Ethel Reeder and sister, June Bargar. Visitation for Dale will be held from 3:00-7:00 PM, Monday, October 25, 2021, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, followed by interment in Clay Township Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials for Dale, to the church Youth Group or Hospice of Northwest, Ohio, 800 S. Detroit Ave., Toledo, Ohio 43609.
