Pryor James Wood, 91, of Perrysburg, was entrusted to the grace of God on Monday, May 8, 2017 in the presence of his family. He was born October 15, 1925 to Thomas & Elizabeth (Kansorka) Wood. PJ enlisted in 1943, proudly serving his country in WWII as a U.S. Navy signalman and gunner in the Pacific Theatre, seeing combat in the battles of Mindanao, Leyte, and Luzon. He later settled in Toledo, OH, first working for LOF and then working and retiring from Chrysler Jeep (1962 -1984). At Jeep, he honorably served as a union steward for UAW Local 12, passionately striving to ensure the rights and safety of his auto worker brothers & sisters. An avid golfer, he enjoyed victories in many local golf tournaments with his buddies, especially his nephew Pryor Joseph (also PJ) Wood. PJ is survived by Jacquelynn Lowry, his beloved for almost 50-years, and her children, Dana (Richard) Thompson, Theresa (Larry) Beard, Daniel (Molly) Lowry, Gigi Mason, Kelly Lowry,13-grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Dad/Poppa also is survived by his children, Marjorie (Bill) Hider, James (April) Wood, Jeffery (Mary) Wood, Barry Wood, Gary Wood, Douglas (Mary Beth) Wood, Alison (Curt) Wood-Osmun, 10-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, his brother Robert (Jacquie) Wood, & many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers & sister-in-laws, Thomas Calvin (Dorothy) and William (Viva Jean) Wood, granddaughter Angel Osmun, grandson Andrew Pryor Lowry. PJ leaves a lasting legacy to always stand-up for what is right and for those in need. Friends will be received Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 4-7 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front Street, Perrysburg, OH, with Father Wenzinger officiating and PJ’s son, Rev. Doug Wood, participating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose Catholic Church.
