Priscilla “Pearl” E. Cantrell, 92, of Toledo passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Orchard Villa in Oregon, Ohio. She was born September 10, 1930 to Alex and Mary (Kepes) Torda in Toledo, Ohio.
Pearl worked at Sun Oil in Toledo for 6 years, where she met her husband John, a gauge operator. She also worked for 18 years in the accounting department at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, Ohio.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Rachel (Jim) McEowen and Linda Collins, and son Nathan (Carol) Cantrell; grandchildren Jessica Cantrell, Alexandria (Brian) Meyer and Sean Collins; great-grandchildren Kennedy Alford and Zayne Collins. Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, John; brothers, Alex and Louis Torda, and sisters, Lola Danyi, Helen Pellegrin, and Sister M. Louise Torda, F.D.C.
Pearl was a wonderful Hungarian cook, and an avid sports fan who followed the Detroit Tigers, Toledo Mud Hens, Detroit Lions and Ohio State Buckeyes. She and her sisters shared many adventures, including various casino trips and a cruise to Mexico. She loved nothing more than spending time with family.
Visitation for Pearl will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 6:30 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 3500 Navarre Ave., Oregon. Funeral Services with a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 729 White St., Toledo followed by Interment at Lake Township Cemetery. A reception will be held immediately after at Bayside Banquet Hall, 2759 Seaman Rd., Oregon. Those wishing to give a memorial gift in Pearl’s honor may consider the Toledo Humane Society. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Orchard Villa for the loving care they have given to Pearl.
