Lyda Mae “Pinkie” Lewis, age 82, formerly of Millbury, Ohio, passed away in the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio at St. Charles Hospital on May 8, 2024. Pinkie was born to Wiley Joseph Lewis and Altalee Mae (Bare) on March 5, 1942, in Lancaster, Ohio. She was a graduate of Lake High School in Millbury. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Pinkie worked as a floral designer at Ken’s Flower Shop before continuing her craft at Hafner Florist. She also retired from King’s Cove as an apartment manager. In her later years, Pinkie resided at Abundant Life of Perrysburg, where she made friendships that kept her joyous. She was a part of a group of residents that transformed a storage room into “The Shop”, a place for people to go and create crafts and spend time with one another.
Pinkie was an artist. She enjoyed painting, and she even gave paintings as gifts. She valued heartfelt and meaningful presents, which was evident through her paintings. Pinkie also liked puzzles and reading, especially when it was time to go to bed. On Wednesdays, she valued attending bible study with her friends. Music was also a big part of her life. She loved hymns and singing along with her son, John, while he played the guitar. Even when memories started to slip from Pinkie’s mind, she never forgot the lyrics to her favorite hymns. She enjoyed garage sales as well. People would often ask Pinkie to keep an eye out for items if they were looking for something specific. Her distinct laughter filled any room she was in, and loved ones always knew it was her laughing. She deeply loved her family, and she especially loved sharing stories with them about her parents, siblings, and kids.
Pinkie is survived by her children, Karen (Jason) Bell, Sharon Thayer, John Urbanowski, Debbie (Jason) Harris, siblings, Naomi (Wahab) Al-Haroun, Mike (Nijole) Lewis, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Ben Lewis and Lois Baum. She is also survived and preceded in death by many cherished friends at Abundant Life of Perrysburg.
