Pietro Spallino, 90, of, Oregon died September 13, 2021 at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Italy on January 15, 1931 to Antonio (Maria Battaglia) Spallino. After graduating from the Italian Police Academy, Pietro served as a Carabiniere, a national policeman. Upon moving to the United States in 1966, he worked as a tool and die maker for Doehler Jarvis. Pietro was a good father, a good man and a proud Italian who worked hard at building an amazing family. He cherished time spent with his family and maintaining Italian traditions. Pietro married the love of his life, Marianna (Giorgianni) Spallino, and they shared 64 years together. Also surviving are their five children, Maria (Douglas) Freyer, Antonio (Andrea) Spallino, Alberto (Sue) Spallino, Rita (Christopher) Casner, and Joseph (Sara) Spallino; twelve grandchildren, Vincenzo, Jordan, Blake, Mia, Chase, Taylor, Megan, Courtney, Brayden, Dominic, Isabella, and Sofia; two great grandchildren, Gabrielle and Alexandra. Friends and family will be received in the Walker Funeral Home, 3500 Navarre Ave. Oregon, Ohio 43616 on Thursday, September 16, from 2-8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 17, at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church with Father Kenneth Stripe officiating. Burial will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio and the American Cancer Society.
