Phyllis Ann Winget

Phyllis Ann Winget of Rossford, Ohio, formerly of Lima and later Findlay, passed December 16, 2019 surrounded by her children.  Daughter of the late Charles and Donna Henderson of Lima, she is survived by her brother Dennis and his wife Kim Henderson of Anderson, Alabama, her daughter, Kim (Winget) and husband Russ Gronbach of Northwood, Ohio, her son Steven and wife Cheryl ( Bensinger) Winget of Findlay, Ohio, grandchildren, Ann Gronbach of Northwood and Steven Winget Jr. and his wife Tawnya Oppman both of Findlay, grandchildren, Russell Gronbach and Savannah and Damien Winget.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers James and Carry Henderson and her oldest son, William (Billy) Winget. Phyllis attended Perry School in Lima and in 1957 was a graduate of the very first class of Shawnee High School.  Phyllis spent 18 years caring for her handicapped son Billy and her two other children.  She had a love for animals, having had many cats, dogs, and a variety of hamsters, fish, lizards, birds and even a chinchilla.  She gardened and made apple butter, jelly and fruit pies from the trees and berry patches that grew in the yard of the house in Lima.  She loved to camp and travel, and enjoyed showing her children as much of the world around them as possible.  She introduced them to different types of food and fun and supplied them with a lifetime of memories of road trips to Florida, the ocean and the mountains of the southern states. There will be no services at her request.  Instead a Celebration of Her Life will be held at the Northwood Fire Department, 2100 Tracy Road, Northwood, Ohio from 1 to 4 pm on Saturday, December 21.  For directions please call (419) 788-6960.  Anyone who knew her is invited to attend and share memories with her family and friends.  In lieu of flowers, we encourage anyone who wishes to make a donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the ASPCA in her name.
