Phyllis Wendt

October 10, 1926 — October 9, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Phyllis E. Wendt announces her passing on October 9, 2021, at the age of 94 in Toledo, OH. Born to Kunebert and Bertha Asmussen in 1926, she graduated from Edward Drummond Libbey High School in 1944. She married Glenn H. Wendt in 1948. She was a former secretary at Northwestern Life Insurance Company and Toledo Edison Company, and a past member and Sunday school teacher at St. Petrie Lutheran Church. She and Glenn were dedicated members of Grace Lutheran Church until their deaths. She was an avid reader – especially mystery novels – and loved being at home with family and working in her garden. Glenn and Phyllis loved to travel all over the United States – 25 years of vacations on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina with their daughter and family were the highlight of their summers. Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Kimberly (Sherwood) McBroom; and her grandchildren Evan (Tiffany) McBroom, Claire McBroom (Noah Lamprecht), Katrin McBroom (John Roberts), Scott (Melissa) McBroom, and Cari (Scott) Elden. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Jackie, Zach, Grace, Sophia, Riley, and Ryan. She is predeceased by her parents, brother Melvin, and sister Wilhemina. The family would like to thank the staffs at the Elizabeth Scott Community and the Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their excellent care. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elizabeth Scott Memorial Fund or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
