On the beautiful summer afternoon of June 30, Phyllis Jean Wagner, 83, made the journey home to be with her lord and savior, Jesus Christ. She was born July 4, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio, second of three cherished daughters to Harold and Alleta Draheim. Phyllis was a graduate of Woodward High School and Stautzenberger College and worked in accounting at Ransom and Randolph. On May 22, 1954, Phyllis married Royal Wagner, setting aside her career to care for her family and raise their three sons, Gary, Craig, and Brian. She was a devoted, loving, and inspiring mother, always teaching and encouraging her sons to be kind, thoughtful, and responsible people. Phyllis had a strong faith in God and witnessed her faith every day. Over her lifetime, she was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Augsburg Lutheran Church, and Westgate Chapel. Phyllis taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years and regularly participated in Bible study groups. She was active in prayer chains, always looking for ways to use her faith to help others. Even as her struggle with dementia stole her memory and physical abilities, Phyllis continued to touch the lives of those around her, offering a caring look and warm smile to her care givers and other residents afflicted with this terrible illness. Left to cherish and honor her beautiful life are her loving husband of 62 years, Royal; their sons Gary (Deborah) Wagner, Craig (Jane) Wagner, and Brian (Pamela) Wagner; grandchildren, Eric, Lauren, Jacqueline, Nicholas, Kevin, Sarah, Christopher, Abbie, Ashley, and Allison; 10 great-grandchildren and her sister, Nancy Roloff. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Beverly Grant. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, from 2-9pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave in Sylvania Township (west of Corey Rd). Funeral Services will begin at 11am on Wednesday, July 6 at Westgate Chapel, 2500 Wilford Dr. Toledo, OH with burial following at Toledo Memorial Park. Friends and family are welcomed to a fellowship at Westgate Chapel following the services.
