Phyllis Anne Ustaszewski

Phyllis Anne (Nowowiejski) Ustaszewski, 89, of Holland, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the University Of Toledo Medical Center. She was born on June 13, 1927 in Whitehouse, Ohio to Joseph R. and Evelyn L. (Koczorowski) Nowowiejski and she married Alfred J. Ustaszewski on August 30, 1952. Phyllis received her Master’s Degree in Science Education from the University of Toledo and was a member of Kappa Delta. She later went to teach for Springfield Schools for over 28 years as well as Lakota Schools for two years, where she was fondly known as Mrs. “U” before retiring in 1987. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and volunteered at the soup kitchen and Bingo for over 30 years. Phyllis was also active in the Holland Springfield Spencer Historical Society. She enjoyed traveling and gardening. Phyllis is survived by her loving children; Andrew (Susan) Ustaszewski, Alice (Bob) Parisi and John (Tami) Ustaszewski; grandchildren, Matthew (Alli) Ustaszewski, Lauren Ustaszewski, Shannon Parisi, Elizabeth Parisi, Dominic Parisi, Natasha Ustaszewski, Jordan Ustaszewski and Alexa Ustaszewski; siblings, Rita Storm, Nancy (Richard) Beyerl and Michael (Susan) Nowowiejski. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Mary Ustaszewski; and siblings, Richard Nowowiejski and Suzanne Lee. Friends will be received on Friday, August 12, 2016 from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. in Neville Funeral Home, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, Ohio 43528. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 9:15 A.M. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 6149 Hill Avenue, Toledo, OH 43615. Burial will be held at Marygrove (Immaculate Conception) Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Church Building Fund.
