Phyllis Jean Stough, age 83, of Toledo passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the Goerlich Center in Sylvania. She was born on December 3, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio to Elmer and Lillian Adair. Phyllis Jean grew up in the Hilltop neighborhood of west Columbus, and was a graduate of Columbus West High School and The Ohio State University - College of Education. She worked at a bakery near her Columbus home, Lazarus Department Store and taught at Eighth Avenue Elementary School in Columbus. Phyllis Jean married Robert E. Stough in Columbus on September 12, 1948 and shared over 62 years of devoted marriage and happiness with him. Home and family were the center of her life. She raised two sons, Robert A. Stough and Craig A. Stough Barbara and loved her three grandchildren, Benjamin Stough, Katharine Feister Thomas and Lyndsey Stough. She was an active mother who worked in and supported her childrens schools and activities. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Toledo for over half a century. Phyllis Jean enjoyed bridge and golf at Inverness Club, serving as president of the Nine Hole Golf Association. She loved traveling with her husband, and enjoyed many cruises with him all over the world. Family and friends may visit on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue. Funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery. The family extends special thanks to Dr. David Mallory and also to the devoted caregivers and staff at the Goerlich Center.
