Phyllis Joyce Stewart, age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2025. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 19, 1938 to Vance and Anna Mabel (Shaffer) Hasley. Her compassionate nature led her to nursing, where she worked as an LPN for more than thirty years including twenty years in home healthcare. She cared deeply for others, always putting their needs before her own. In 1980, she wed Raymond Stewart, who proceeded her in death and certainly welcomed her into heaven with open arms.
Phyllis enjoyed relaxing with a crochet hook in hand and a ball of yarn in her lap. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family. Phyllis also had many close friends, new and old, that she enjoyed spending time with. She often traveled with her special niece, Pam Korpik, visiting Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Michigan. The pair often stopped to try their luck at the casino during their adventures and went Christmas shopping together every holiday season.
A devout Christian, Phyllis was a parishioner of Wilkins United Methodist Church. After an extended illness, she wished for nothing more than to be at home with the Lord and free of pain.
Phyllis is survived by her children: Heidi (Donald) Breier, Debra Turner-Veler, Bryan (Janet) Wright, Cynthia (Robert) Ford, and Glen Stewart. She was a loving grandmother to many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by her son: John Stewart, baby brother, and sisters: Velma Canseler and Ellen Shirey.
No public services will be held at this time. Walker Funeral Home, Sylvania has been entrusted with her care.
