Phyllis Joan Meier, age 90, of Toledo, died August 18, 2015 at the Toledo Hospital. She was born November 24, 1924 in Swanton, OH to the late Alfred and Grace (Beil) Meier. Phyllis was a teacher for more than 46 years in Fulton and Lucas Counties. She began as a sixth grade teacher but spent the majority of her career teaching music with the Oregon City Schools. She left a lasting impression on many students. Phyllis was a longtime member of First Alliance Church and its Senior Fellowship. She taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. As a Christian, she faithfully supported missions and the Toledo Gospel Rescue Mission. Besides playing piano, she sang in a trio with her sisters. Phyllis also loved flowers, especially lilies and irises. Surviving are her sisters, Virginia Grace Roth and Carolyn Patricia Meier; best friend, James Van Camp; nephews, David, Philip, Paul and James Roth; and many cousins. Visitation will be Monday, August 24, 2015 at First Alliance Church, 2201 Monroe Street, Toledo, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at East Swanton Cemetery.
