Phyllis Ann Ladd

Phyllis A. Ladd, 77, of Port Clinton, Ohio, passed away on Monday morning, October 10, 2022, at Edgewood Manor Nursing Home, Port Clinton, after a lingering illness. She was born in Richlands, Virginia on November 4, 1944, to Frank and Mae (Stinson) Park. She married Joel “Joe” H. Ladd in Port Clinton on March 16, 1962.

Phyllis will be remembered for gracious welcoming as the receptionist for the former Underwood’s Restaurant, where she worked for 20 years, retiring in 1987. She was a flower gardener with a “green Thumb,” who loved tending her gardens around her home, especially her petunias. She took pride in her housekeeping and during the Christmas season, her favorite time of year, she decorated in the true spirt of holiday cheer. Phyllis and Joe were great Cleveland sports fans, including the Browns, Indians, and the Cavaliers, as well as The Ohio State University Buckeyes. In their early years they traveled to different states but always enjoyed the beauty of the Amish countryside, here in Ohio. Phyllis liked to browse the shops of handmade goods and often brought items home to warm her home.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 60 years, Joe, son, James E. Ladd and sister, Karen Goldwood. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Linda Coykendale.

Visitation for Phyllis will be held from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM on Monday, October 17, 2022, in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton. The funeral service will be conducted immediately following the visitation at 1:00 PM, in the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
