Phillip Warren George Melle

Phillip W.G. Melle, age 81, passed away Saturday January 14, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The son of F. Warren and V. Loraine, he was born August 5, 1935 in Toledo. After graduating from Macomber High School in 1953, Phil worked for the family business, Melles Hardware. He served in the U.S. Army and after being honorably discharged began a career in telecommunications. Phil enjoyed working in the yard and loved cats, especially his remaining Birman, Arianna. His true passion was roller skating having met his wife at the Toledo Rollercade in 1957. He and his wife were dance skaters and continued to skate together up until a couple months ago. Phil loved to work on roller skates and enjoyed helping anyone who had problems with their skates. He worked in the skate room at many area skating rinks in Sandusky, Findlay, and Toledo, including Ohio Skate. He is survived by his loving wife, Sally; children, Charmayne Elizaldi and Shannon Coldwell; grandchildren, Jacqulyn, Christine, Shawn, Avery, Zoe, Raven; great grandchild, Taylor; sisters, Marilyn (Bill) Kline and Pat Uerkwitz; sister-in-law, Janey Melle; special nephew, Brian Uerkwitz; and many nieces nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Melle; brother-in-law, Dale Uerkwitz; and son-in-law, James Elizaldi. Services will be private.
