Philip E. Pierson

August 15, 1942 — August 30, 2009

PIERSON Philip MECHANIC Mr. Philip Eugene Pierson, 67, of Grand Rapids, OH, died August 30, 2009 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Philip had defied cancer, going in and out of remission, over the course of the last ten years. His family credits his longevity to Philips incredible determination and self-reliance. The Pierson family motto is while there is breathhope! Philip was born on August 15, 1942 in Toledo, OH, the son of the late Stanley and Virginia Ladd Pierson. A self taught auto mechanic and jack of all trades, Phil retired from Doehlar-Jarvis National Lead upon his cancer diagnosis in 1999. He took great pride in his mechanical ability and repaired hundreds of automobiles for the sheer challenge of the trade. Mr. Pierson is survived by his wife, Sharon Spencley Pierson, two daughters, Tamara Lawrence Carlisle of Stow, OH and Jennifer Michael Thompson of Maumee, OH. Also left to mourn and remember is his only granddaughter, Shelby Carlisle, his pride and joy. All were present during Philips last hours. Many friends and family members give glory to God for the end of Philips suffering including special aunt, Betty Fackler of Point Place, OH. Surviving siblings include Stanley, Bonita, Janice, Joann, Deborah, Ernest and Gary. Proceeding Philip in death was a brother, Robert. All may find peace in knowing that Mr. Pierson recommitted his heart to Jesus ten years ago. According to Philips wishes, public thanks go to Dr. David Brown, oncologist and Joann Joey DeLong of Hospice. Philip further requested that, though prayers are appreciated, no services will be held. Private arrangements were conducted through Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home in Maumee, Ohio. www.walkerfuneralhomes.com Have mercy on me my God For in only you does my soul take refuge Let me take cover in the shadow of your wings Until all suffering has passed I cry to God Most High who has fulfilled His purpose in me To send from Heaven and save me To let me abide in Him eternally Amen Psalm 59:7
