Philip J. Keller

Philip J. Keller, age 77, died on Monday, October 20, 2014 at Heatherdowns Rehab Center in Toledo, Ohio after nearly a two year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on January 19, 1937 in Wauseon, Ohio to Philip and Eva (Lichtenwald) Keller. Philip was baptized and confirmed at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Wauseon. He married Lillian Kahrs on November 9, 1958 and they enjoyed almost 56 years together. Philip proudly served his country in the US Army and was a member of the American Legion. He was very involved at Trinity Lutheran in Toledo, Ohio where he served as an Elder, Treasurer, Secretary, member of the Choir, Usher, member of the dartball team and treasurer of the Lutheran Dartball League. He was also a member of the Lutheran Laymens League, German Lutheran Heritage, Lutheran League Bowling and the treasurer for Chesterfield-Dover Alumni Association. Philip was a Gold Medal winner in the Senior Olympics in swimming. He is survived by his loving wife, Lillian (Kahrs); son, Scot (Laura); daughter, Ann (Mark) Presley; grandchildren, Joshua; Jennifer; James and Caitlyn; brother, Victor and sister-in-law, Marie. Philip was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Donald; sister, Ruth Irene and sister-in-law, Wanda. Friends and family will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4560 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio 43614. A private interment at Bayes Cemetery in Wauseon, Ohio will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Laymens League.
