Petula Stamos

November 8, 1942 — September 20, 2014

Petula Stamos, age 71, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, surrounded by her family. Petula was born in Sparta, Greece to the late Konstantine and Aimilia (Tsarpalis) Koulogeorge. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Peter Stamos; and brothers, Dimitrios and Yiannis Koulogeorge. Petula was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She was a dedicated volunteer for the churchs annual Greek-American Festival for more than 40 years and was a member of Philoptochos. In the late 1970s, Petula worked at Jeep in Toledo. Over the years, she also worked at various restaurants in the Toledo area and successfully ran a small cleaning business. Petula met the love of her life, Peter Stamos, while working as a beautician in Sparta, Greece in 1965. They later married in Greece in July of 1966. She was very proud to become an American citizen and equally proud of her Greek heritage. She was a very kind and generous person and always put others before herself. Petula tirelessly took care of her ailing husband for several years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, listening to music, reading, walking, dancing, cooking, and helping others. She had extraordinary cooking abilities, most notably for her stuffed grape leaves. Petula is survived by her sons, Tom, Emilio, Eugene, and Constantine; brothers, George, Christos, Vasilis, Manolis, and Nikos; sisters, Evangelia and Diamanto; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She will never be forgotten and will be greatly missed. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 2pm-9pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) with the Trisiagion prayer service to begin at 7pm. Funeral service will be at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 740 N Superior St. Toledo, OH 43604 on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 11am. Interment will be at Toledo Memorial Park.
