Peter Szozda, Sr. age 84, of Toledo passed away on June 15, 2011 at The Toledo Hospital. Mr. Szozda was born in Toledo on October 26, 1926 to Stanley & Anna (Zandrowski) Szozda. He married Mary Salazar in Monroe, MI. on June 30, 1955 and she preceded him in death on September 9, 1988. A WW II Veteran, Peter worked for the Jeep Corporation for many years retiring in 1977. A member of Little Flower Catholic Church, Pete was an avid bingo player, thus acquiring the nickname “Bingo Pete.” He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving are his son, Joseph (Peggy) Szozda; daughter, Anna Marie Szozda; grandchildren, Kelli (Kevin) Wack; Kayla Szozda; Timothy Mendoza; great-grandchildren, Cecilia Wack and Robbie Mendoza. He was preceded in death by his son, Peter, Jr.; daughter, Juanita Sakall and 9 brothers and sisters. Friends and family will be received in the Neville Funeral Home, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland (419-865-8879) from 2-8 pm Sunday June 19, 2011, where a scripture service will take place at 4:30 pm. Funeral services will begin in the mortuary Monday June 20, 2011 with prayers being recited at 9:15 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at Little Flower Catholic Church, 5562 Dorr St., Toledo beginning at 10 am. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
