Peggy Ann Bauman

August 20, 1941 — November 29, 2024

Peggy Ann (Rounds) Bauman, 83, joined the angels unexpectedly on Friday, November 29th, 2024 surrounded by loving family. She lived a full and vibrant life and touched so many lives around her. To know her was to love her.

Peggy was born on August 20, 1941 to Robert and Mary (Twynham) Rounds. She lost her father within the first year of her life and forever wished to have known him and have him in her life. Her mother remarried Wellington Newton and blessed her with five younger siblings. Peggy loved being a big sister from her younger years into her old age, and never stopped being a great role model for them.

A job she loved at Bolte Realty is where she met the love of her life, Ron Bauman. They married on October 12, 1963 and built a wonderful life and family together. Married for 61 years, they raised two daughters together, Susan and Karen. Peg valued family over everything and was further blessed with two sons-in-law, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and the best grandma anyone could dream of having.

Ron and Peg owned and operated Catawba Market, a place where employees were treated and cared for like family. Peg was a second mom to so many Catawba Market kids.

Peg was passionate about life—whether a job she had or a hobby she loved, she put her ‘all’ into everything she did: from Cochran’s Majorettes in her teens where she learned to twirl and was so proud to have travelled the U.S performing; to over 60 years of bowling and building lifelong friendships with her teammates; her Port Clinton High School Bowling Coach career and her love of teaching and inspiring those girls; to her Miller Boat Line job and her love of arranging the shop and helping the tourists; her involvement in the CIVFD auxiliary; and lastly her embracing of the Otterbein Marblehead Community ---joining many committees, being the exercise instructor, participating in card club, keeping up her infamous junk art garden, and being the resident cookie baker. She loved it all and made life fun. Not only for herself, but for all of those around her.

She is survived by her beloved husband Ron Bauman; daughters Susan (Jim) Dole and Karen (Rick) Buchman; five blessed grandchildren Adam, Liz, Amy(Mike), Blake(Tony), and Kara; as well as three great grandchildren Remy, Luca, and Hazel. Also surviving: sisters Linda (Dave) Sorg and Michelle (Terry) Fitzthum; brother Jim (Judy) Newton; sister-in-law Linda Newton; and close cousin Patricia (Dan) Timmons. Peg was proceeded in death by her parents Robert Rounds and Mary Newton, her stepfather Wellington Newton, and brothers Gil Newton and Kenny Newton.

Per Peg’s wishes, she will be cremated and services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Riverview Industries or to Ida Rupp Library.
