Pauline E. Durdel, 88, formerly of Elmore, Ohio, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2022, at Providence Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. She was the daughter of Dewey E. and Marie C. (Carney) Schippel, born in Sandusky, Ohio on November 22, 1933. Pauline married Keith E. Durdel, in Sandusky, on February 21, 1959, he preceded her in death on February 5, 2009.
Pauline was a very loving and caring person. She and Keith had no children, but for more than 14 years she cared for the children of Valerie and Garry Juergens, loving them as her own. She was heartbroken when her husband died, and things just never seemed the same, but she continued with life enjoying all the relationships she had around her. The family enjoyed watching her and her twin brother, Paul, banter back and forth over everyday life. They truly had a special relationship! Pauline also liked to knit, play cards, work puzzles, and square dance.
Those left to cherish their time with her include her many nieces and nephews along with her special caregivers, Brenda, Amber, Cindy, Danielle, and Tiffy. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Dewey, Jr., Robert, and Paul Charles Schippel.
Visitation for Pauline will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022, from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West Street, Genoa, Ohio. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM followed by interment, next to her husband, at Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, or the Donor’s choice. Online condolences may be shared at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
