Pauline M. Bauer, 88, of Pemberville, Ohio, formerly Tipp City, Ohio, passed away on May 16, 2014 at Otterbein Portage Valley. She was born on July 25, 1925 in Royal Oak, Michigan to Peter J. and Mary A. (Snively) Plant. She married Robert L. Bauer on May 25, 1946. Pauline was an active member of Pemberville United Methodist Church. She was a compassionate, loving friend of many and often volunteered her time to visit those who were homebound. Robert and Pauline enjoyed over 15 years of retirement in North Fort Meyers, Florida, with close friends and relatives. Pauline has always been an avid card player and enjoyed playing board games with her grandchildren. Pauline resided at Otterbein Portage Valley Retirement Center for the past twelve and half years. She volunteered her services in their gift shop, delivering mail, and enjoyed the many activities. Pauline’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a thoughtful grandmother and great grandmother who loved and enjoyed all of her family. Pauline is survived by her loving children, Dianne M. Heapy, Gayle C. (Mark) Vonderembse and Robert L. (Candace) Bauer; grandchildren, Beth Hodgson, John Heapy, Leisje Meates, Tosje Whalen, Vanessa Barlow, Talia Parsell, Maryke Swartz, Elaine Vonderembse, A.J. Vonderembse, Steffanie Lennon and Joshua Bauer; and, thirteen great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert L. Bauer, Sr., beloved granddaughter Karis Hughes, five sisters and one brother. A memorial service was held at Otterbein Portage Valley on May 17, 2014. A private burial will be held at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Those planning an expression of sympathy in Pauline’s name are asked to consider Pemberville United Methodist Church.
